Reading Tracy Frisch’s article about the low tunnels at Tobacco Road farm, I had all sorts of ideas about how we might get more use out of our hoops, though I was a bit skeptical as to whether Conncticut could really be as warm as she was making it out to be. And then, in the second paragraph on page 15, right in the last sentence of the article, she let out the secret: “…a large damned river the size of a small lake….” All of a sudden I couldn’t understand the need for the tunnels. I mean- isn’t hell supposed to be downright hot, even in winter? And dry? Sure is a lucky thing they have this river nearby!
