It’s a strangely warm November day, the foliage is in full autumn splendor. I wind my way past numerous Mennonite owned farms, and onto Sassafras Creek Farm. At the end of the driveway, just next to the house is a barrel, with a sign on it, my name on the sign. This is my parking space. What a wonderful welcome, and the first indication of the high level of purpose and organization that I’m about to encounter. I wander over to the equipment shed to find Dave at work on his cultivating tractor. He greets me warmly and we head over to a table in the shade to converse. And yes we need the shade, already at 9:30 in the morning it’s in the 70’s!
