Market farmers routinely encounter scenarios in which objects must be held together, held down, or held up. Trellises, fences, sheer lashvehicle loads, and storage situations present challenges to a farmer desiring efficient use of time and resources. A working knowledge of knots can achieve the same results as zip ties, cinch straps, or ratchet straps, but without the need for specialized and sometimes pricey gadgets. Knowledge of knots can also make a resource out of baling twine, something that tends to be abundant on farms that use straw or hay for mulch.
