When I first decided that I wanted to have my cake and eat it too (moveable hoophouses and moveable in-ground heating system), folks in the heating and greenhouse business that we talked to said it was not something that was done – way too labor intensive. Well, being a farmer, I’ve had my fair share of stupid ideas, and I am a sucker for working too hard, so that didn’t deter me. I did tell them I’d let them know in three years if it was a dumb idea or not. Seven years later, I say: not a dumb idea! We have moveable hoophouses with all of their benefits and in-ground heating with all of those benefits as well.
